By Jerry O'Brien 8-30-09 Proctor, MN Track champions for the 2009 season were named Sunday night at the Proctor Speedway. Of the five divisions only one was decided at the final race of the season. Defending Pure Stock champion Josh Loucks led Al Rapp by just nine points going into the final night's action. A poor performance ion his heat race, a fifth place finish, w race which Rapp won halved Loucks' point lead. A third place finish by Rapp to Loucks' tenth place erased the lead and gave Rapp the track title. No second place runner in the four WISSOTA sanctioned divisions could muster enough points to wrest the title away from the leaders going into the final event. Harry Hanson was named the 2009 WISSOTA Late Model track champion as was Jeff Tardy in the WISSOTA Super Stock division. For the first time a father and son team won track titles in the same season as Kelly Estey won the WISSOTA Modified track title and his son Skeeter Estey won the WISSOTA Midwest Modified title. |
