By Jerry O'Brien Kevin Carlson has four WISSOTA Late Model feature wins this season but was looking to get one at the Proctor Speedway Sunday night. Starting on the outside of the front row Carlson got the hole shot on pole sitter Dave Esse but the caution flag for Cory Jorgenson's trip to the infield sent the field into realignment. This time Esse was ready and grabbed the lead but only a lap was completed when George Ledin slid off turn one backwards.
for either of the two as Jeff Provinzino took over the point followed by Harry Hanson, Tim McMann, Todd Gehl and then Carlson. Hanson moved to the outside groove after Provinzino but the caution flag again appeared when Carlson faded back and pulled into the infield near turn one. The restart was on lap seven but didn't last long as Kyle Peterlin was forced off turn three. Restarting with 17 laps to go, Provinzino continued to lead Hanson and Gehl. At the half way point Provinzino led Hanson, Gehl, Peterlin and Darrell Nelson in the top five. On the move from his 13th starting spot was Steve Laursen who ran sixth as Provinzino was cruising at this point. Hanson began to cut into Provinzino's lead and closed to his back bumper. He then got a great run to the inside down the back stretch, found grip on the bottom and slid by Provinzino to take over the top spot. Nelson, Gehl and Peterlin finished in the top five. Joey Jensen led the WISSOTA Modified feature early but the racers had trouble stringing together consecutive laps as two restarts in the early going kept the pack together. When the event finally got going Jensen found Darrell Nelson and Kelly Estey on his tail. Nelson challenged Jensen for several laps and had the lead by a bumper. Jeff Broking encountered trouble when the #5 faltered in the second turn, Estey appeared to have to check up and Jody Bellefeuille, Jeff Hart and Andy Miskowic were caught up with Miskowic's car partially on Bellefeuille's car. When racing resumed Nelson took the lead from Jensen with a door flapping Ryan Aho third. Hart, who had restarted the race, went off the top of turns three and four and stalled bringing out the caution flag again. The half way point was reached a couple of laps after the restart with nelson leading Aho, Nick Lavato who was having a very strong race, Jad Carlson and Greg Chesley in the top five. Nelson went on to win his fifth feature of the season over Aho, Carlson, Chesley and Lavato. E. J. Hietala popped out to an early lead from the outside of the front row in the WISSOTA Midwest Modified 20 lap feature over Loren Inman and Dan Kingsley. Al McDougall and Deven Van House ran in the top five while the top three in points Jimmy Latvala, Skeeter Estey and Steve Stuart ran together. Stuart spun but kept going losing a lot of track position in the process. Despite another spin and keep going by Kingsley, the half way mark was quickly reached with Hietala leading Inman, Van House, Estey and Latvala in the top five. The first caution flag appeared at this point when Stuart's car went up in smoke. Green Hietala maintained the lead as Inman tried to keep Van House behind him but fell off the pace back to seventh or eighth. Heitala went on to win his first feature of the season as Estey got by Van House on the white flag lap for second. Rounding out the top five were Adam Archer in fourth. Archer had started dead last in the 20 car field and Latvala in fifth. Nick Oreskovich from Mason, WI, dubbed "The Flyin' Farmer" was looking for his second WISSOTA Super Stock feature win of the weekend and grabbed the lead from the outside of the front row with Donnie Lofdahl, Jeff Ruzich and Scott Lawrence and Jay Kintner in close formation. The caution flag flew a few laps into the 20 scheduled for debris on the track. It was a mob scene going into turn three on the restart and Lofdahl was forced off the track, through the ditch and into the guardrail heavily damaging the car. Ruzich was sent to the rear for the incident. Oreskovich continued to lead after the cleanup and restart with Lawrence, Jeff Tardyand Kevin Eder (from 12th) in close attendance. Oreskovich went on to make it two wins in the weekend over Lawrence, Tardy, Eder and Louis Meglen in the top five. The Pure Stock 15 lap feature saw veteran Jon McKinnon jump out to the lead at the outset over Jeff Engelmeier, Pete Ciurleo and Rick Cornelison. Al Rapp started dead last after trouble in his heat and was a man on a mission. A tangle off turn four brought out the caution flag and diabled several cars including the borrowed ride of Austin Blom who sat fifth in seasons points. Three of the top five in points were sidelined in this crash with three laps in. By the half way point Rapp was contending for the lead as McKinnon held on to the point. Rapp and McKinnon raced side by side for several laps before Rapp slipped past to take the win. McKinnon, Dan Larsen, Josh Loucks and Engelmeier rounded out the top five.
